Accountable for the ongoing planning and management of The City of Calgary’s facility portfolio, including acquisition, planning, investment, and disposition. Developed and implemented the Corporate Facility Planning & Delivery Policy and Framework to centralize planning and delivery of City Facilities. Accountable for the planning, stewardship, and optimization of The City of Calgary’s corporate facility portfolio, including asset acquisition, long-range planning, capital investment, and disposition. Led the development and implementation of the Corporate Facility Planning & Delivery Policy and Framework, establishing a centralized, enterprise-wide approach to planning, prioritization, and delivery of civic facilities. Directed a multidisciplinary team of ~20 professionals responsible for advancing facility planning, enabling corporate decision-making, and developing the facility portfolio management strategy and long-term investment plan. Sponsored and advanced a portfolio of complex facility projects ranging from $1M to $400M, with total sponsored investments of approximately $3B, ensuring alignment with service needs, technical feasibility, and funding strategies. Led corporate governance and stage-gating processes for facility development, overseeing capital planning and budget management of approximately $200M (2023–2026) to support informed, transparent investment decisions. Successfully transitioned the Integrated Civic Facility Planning Program into an operational division, establishing its mandate, governance, processes, and tools to support sustained delivery and organizational alignment.

The Corporate Facility Portfolio Plan is a single plan of all the building The City of Calgary will build, renovate, sell, demolish, lease and renovate over a 30-year period. The plan is intended to align with the Municipal Development Plan and the Calgary Transportation Plan and includes all services delivered by the City of Calgary. In alignment with the Corporate Facility Planning & Delivery Framework the plan is delivered through a collaborative cross corporate governance structure. Collaboration allows The City to look at facility demand and supply over the long-term (up to 30 years) and determine the best approaches to meeting service needs and ensuring facility assets are optimized for their best use and drive to citizen focused outcomes. This role is accountable for: - Facilitating collaborative governance - Driving planning to optimize the corporate facility portfolio - Leading the team that develops the Corporate Facility Portfolio Plan - Knowledge management of facility planning files - Developing and updating corporate facility portfolio strategies - Facilitating collaborative planning across service lines - Integrating facility planning with other city planning and transportation planning - Developing policy’s pertaining to corporate facilities - Coordinating planning across all portfolio space types.

The Integrated Civic Facility Planning (ICFP) Program is Council and Administrative Leadership Team directed a transformational change initiative tasked with rethinking how The City of Calgary plans and delivers facilities. The primary objective is to developing a corporately coordinated and standardized approach to strategically planning and delivering civic facilities that drives to community and corporate outcomes including: supporting efficient and effective service delivery to citizens, citizen interaction with those services, development of complete communities, greater efficiencies in both CAPEX and OPEX and deliver mixed use buildings that are more community minded and support the larger city building vision for Calgary. This cultural change initiative was structured using a cross corporate collaborative and design thinking approach to develop a new policy, a new framework and processes to support collaborative planning. Leveraging the continuous improvement, and rapid prototyping methodologies the program used Learning Projects to develop the governance and processes necessary to enable collaboration and outcome based planning. The program initiated three multi-service facility projects that has brought stakeholders together to generate ideas, develop processes collaboratively, developed collaborative governance and created operational models. Key roles: - program management functions and processes ensuring the program is compliant with all corporate program and project management standards - Development of an updated Corporate policy for planning & delivering facilities - Development of an updated Corporate facility planning framework - Development of a corporate governance model - A cross corporate collaborative process that coordinates facility planning and capture functional service requirements and is consistent yet flexible. - Implementing new strategies such as private sector partnerships, and greater use of multi-service, multi-use facilities

Tomorrow's Workplace is a 5 year council approved program tasked with avoiding real estate costs through the implementation of a mobility workplace strategy. Developed as a partnership between Human Resources, Information Technology and Facilities Planning and Management, the program brought expertise from each of these areas to develop a comprehensive strategy for flexible working. As the Lead for Facility Planning and Management my work included: - Building strategic relationships with key members in the Corporate Properties & Buildings Business Unit - Provide subject matter expertise to all projects in the program with regards to facility planning and management, space planning, real estate strategy. - Lead the development of a baseline metric report and the documentation of metric required for ongoing performance tracking and future occupancy planning - Lead the planning, design, and construction of the Flexwork Hub Pilot project. A space intended to be a productivity center for mobile employees and employees moving between buildings. The pilot included rigorous testing which is to inform a corporate wide hub strategy.

- Instrumental in the conceptualization, design and development of a proposed business model to achieve a functional alignment of the organization - Lead the development of the database portion of a business intelligence tool intended to capture and document strategic needs for future facility planning - Lead the detailed process mapping of the CPB Asset Planning, Delivery and Management Process

- Lead the concept development of a strategic needs assessment tool for capturing business intelligence required for strategic facility planning. - Involved in the conceptualization and development of the Corporate Strategic Office Accommodation Plan - Involved in the research and development of a proposal for an mobile workplace strategy - Developed and drafted a research based corporate space and interior design standards document. - Designed, developed, and wrote a policy for asset planning, delivery and management.

- Implemented the Workplace Condition Assessment, a tool created to quantify the condition of interior work space to aide in capital planning and budgeting. - Conducted research and supported the development a strategic long range corporate accommodation plan for all future staff growth including looking for innovative ways to minimize growth impact including, a mobile workplace strategy. - Developed an asset documentation strategy and tool for the Operational Workplace Centre section including implementation, requiring site visits to capture required data.

- Coordinated 40 construction, renovation projects from start to finish, projects involved communicating with corporate clients, suppliers, contractors, and consultants. Projects with budgets up to $8,000,000, including additions and major renovations to schools. - Coordinated upwards of 30 life-cycle capital reinvestment projects at a given time across the portfolio of 80 buildings. - Developed and implemented a new document management system including file hierarchy, document naming standards and compliance guidelines. - Developed and implemented a new CAD drawing standard including both digital and printed standards with, layers, line weights, storage, and naming. Project included hiring a staff member to execute conversion. - Team member of a project that drafted a new supplemental conditions for the corporation’s standard CCDC2 contracts. - Developed and implemented new project management tools and templates to achieve a greater level consistency and reporting. - Conducted future capital maintenance planning using ReCAPP software, consultants and expert opinions including created business cases for budget requests.

- Coordinated over 25 move management projects involving creation and implementation of move plans and change communications plans, relocating furniture assets, and relocating business units between buildings. These projects involved anywhere between 5 and 50 staff. - Coordinated 5 to 10 small to medium construction, renovation projects from start to finish as a facilities management representative, projects involved communicating: corporate clients, suppliers, contractors, and consultants. - Consulted effectively with corporate clients to understand business function, assess functional needs and design functional plans to meet business needs. In addition working with business representatives to implement the plans, follow up and assess results and make changes as required. - Implemented life-cycle capital maintenance projects for corporate buildings. - Responsible for the planning and acquisition of furniture with various furniture vendors - Responsible for the management of project budgets, documentation and reporting

This program is an interdisciplinary, thesis based, design degree that brings together students from architecture, engineering, urban planning, industrial design, ecological design, and many others to learn from one another, and solve complex problems. My Thesis was titled: Preferences for Urban Form, How Density Perceptions, Lifestyle and Urban From Affect the Acceptance of Increased Density in Neighborhood Redevelopment This project evaluated the impact that building design and form has on the perception and acceptance of higher density redevelopment. The project brings together theory from urban planning, urban design, real estate development, housing theory, marketing and environmental psychology. It utilized key informant interviews from the development industry, three dimensional visualizations, questionnaires and an experiment to test what urban form would be most acceptable to the citizens of Calgary.
