Over the years, I've explored IT on my own terms, building skills and knowledge wherever I could find it. My professional background has been diverse: I've worked as a fitter and turner in engineering, operated laser cutting equipment, set up security camera systems on contract, and currently work in security at a roadhouse where I take on additional technical tasks when needed. These experiences have taught me problem-solving, attention to detail, and how to adapt quickly—skills I'm now channeling into my IT career transition. My Cybersecurity Journey: Last year, I made the commitment to formalize my IT knowledge. I earned my CompTIA A+ certification and I'm currently working toward my CompTIA Network+. But I don't stop there—I'm constantly expanding my skillset through Udemy courses in full stack web development and Python programming. I even built my own website from scratch using HTML and CSS (check the about page if you want to know more about my journey). Where I'm Headed: My goal is clear: break into cybersecurity. I'm targeting entry-level IT positions to build real-world experience, then transitioning into entry-level cybersecurity roles. From there, I want to grow into a cybersecurity engineer—whether on the defensive side protecting systems and networks, or the offensive side as a penetration tester. Both paths fascinate me, and I'm keeping my options open as I learn more about each. I'm motivated by the challenge of protecting digital systems, understanding vulnerabilities, and staying one step ahead of threats. Every day I spend in labs, reading documentation, and practicing hands-on skills brings me closer to that goal.
