Worked closely with the Manager to operate a Co-op comprised of 194 family units including both apartments and townhouses. Responsibilities included implementation of RGI program, performed all RGI calculations, main arrears officer, processing all A/P and A/R, payroll, bank deposits, bank reconciliations. Showed and offered units to prospective members. Maintained an accurate and up-to-date waiting list for internal and external subsidies as well as member files on HM Worx. In charge of keeping the Accounting software (New Views) up-to-date and applying for monthly Subsidy grants from the Federal Government. Handled delicate and often difficult issues from members/tenants.

Manage a not-for-profit seniors’ apartment building with 90 units geared specifically to seniors age 55+ as well as the Active Seniors Centre. Assisting tenants in emergency situations and ensuring safety comes first. Responsibilities include implementation of RGI program from start to finish, monitor and take action regarding bad debts as appropriate. Market and maintain a waiting list, screen applicants, show vacant units and lease all apartments in conjunction with our market waitlist as well as Toronto Housing Connection. Coordinate and facilitate special functions, classes, programs outings, luncheons, BBQs and fundraisers. Work closely with maintenance to ensure that all repairs are done in a timely fashion and that all units are kept in good repair. Work with community agencies to provide physical and mentally stimulating programs to seniors, both tenants’ and community members.

Manage a not-for-profit seniors’ residence with 115 apartments geared specifically to seniors age 60+. Operate within a yearly budget set by the Board of Directors. Administer RGI program in conjunction with DASH and adhere to applicable policies and legislation. Collection of arrears, when necessary. Liaise with residents to resolve health and housing issues and mediate and/or facilitate the assistance of outside agencies to secure their housing. Handle and coordinate all emergency situations and fire drills. Inspect property and units on a regular basis to ensure building operations are performing according to standards and procedures while monitoring work order turnaround time. Interface with residents and negotiate service contracts, oversee construction projects and repairs and capital improvements as required. Supervise staff of 7, build staff morale and monitor quality of work through performance reviews. Ensure that the staff and contractors work within Occupational Health and Safety standards while ensuring that Human Rights Code, AODA and RTA are followed.
