In addition to handling domestic and international shipments (from USPS Parcel Post to UPS Business Express), I worked with small business owners looking to expand their customer base by creating flyers, business cards, and mailers for the USPS Every Door Direct Mail program. Other responsibilities included maintaining the copy machines, sorting mail, sending fax, answering phones, keeping records for mailbox holders, and general sales.

Organized staff meetings and workshop series schedule, including time and location details. Managed sign-up by coordinating with workshop presenters and participants. Developed flyers to promote series of workshops relating to general popular writing issues (personal statements, resumes, cover letters, etc).

Adhering to deadlines, I reviewed films and music for local online culture publication.

Interviewed people contributing to the community and wrote feature articles for local newspaper, delivered to over 13,000 homes in the area.

In studying child language acquisition, I assisted in collecting data from a corpus of recordings of Spanish speaking mothers and their children from Mexico City and Chile. This involved close listening to recordings, comparing and correcting transcriptions, understanding Spanish syntax and phonology, and evaluating collected tokens for statistical comparison. Studied writing center theory, including pedagogy and ideology, prior to consulting. As a consultant, I incorporated this training into one-on-one consultations, as well as in group seminars and writing center conferences. I worked with undergraduate and graduate students on various writing projects, including dissertations, grants, academic analysis, and creative writing. My experience as a writing consultant allowed my communication skills to evolve, seeking ways to maintain focus and cohesion in bigger picture writing concerns as well as clear syntax and diction, staying true to the individual text as a representation of its author.
