* Presided over weekly meetings; led discussions about political affairs relevant to Latino countries. * Hosted social, informational, and academic events for students. * Panel participant for a discussion on the new U.S. immigration policy and the DREAM Act. * Managed and coordinated the visit of Sonia Nazario, who spoke about the United States immigration policies and her professional experience as a journalist and writer.

* Analyzes students’ test data to identify areas of weakness and document results to focus tutoring lessons on those areas. * Develops lesson plans based on the students’ personal needs as well as ensuring that his/her academic plan aligns well with his/her English level curriculum. * Integrates Wilson Just Words activities and worksheets for students who need help with phonemic awareness and basic understanding of the English language. * Creates multisensory activities for students and encourages them to work in a collaborative manner to allow lower level students to benefit from upper level students’ knowledge and vice versa.

* Produced educational brochures and managed the distribution to more than 500 people at outreach events, partnership meetings and medical institutions for Nueva Vida, a non-profit that serves as support group for Latina women with cancer. * Conducted educational workshops and developed community engagement strategies for members of community centers and churches in low-income areas. * Supported the Executive Director of Community Development in overall communications to create a positive image and strong relationship for Nueva Vida. * Planned and coordinated events with other Latino non-profit organizations to collaborate and participate in their outreach activities and enhance relationships with NGO’s. * Contacted media outlets and set up meetings to ensure coverage in newspaper, tv and radio. * Maintained and strengthened relationships with over 30 health care facilities, donors, and partners by giving updates, sending brochures, setting up meetings or sending e-mails encouraging participation for fundraising activities and other events.

* Created and maintained organized files on 34 DC government agencies’ practices on the Language Access Law. * Researched best practices on the Language Access Law by state. * Wrote observational reports and made recommendations for current practices of government agencies. * Served as a liaison between the government officials of 34 agencies and OLA’s Language Access Law Director; communicated with Language Access Coordinators and provided them with a list of best practices to inform their clients on the Language Access Law.
