About
I am an optical consultant in general aspects of optical engineering, optical systems, and instruments development, with specialized skills in geometrical optics, lens design, radiometry, illumination, and optical tolerancing. I have been doing this since I was eleven (but my designs definitely work better today). My professional work have involved the development of computer-to-plate laser-scanning prepress systems using MEMs devices, fluorescence detection for DNA analysis (such as qPCR and digital PCR instruments for virus detection), medical imaging, industrial imaging, and scientific illumination (e.g., flat-field illumination in microscopy and projection using LEDs). I have authored technical books, original scientific peer-reviewed journal papers, and several conference papers. I hold a BS and MS in Optics from the University of Rochester, as well as a BA in Physics. I have lived in five countries, and in my work, I have visited many companies in different parts of the world, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, China, South Korea, Germany, France, UK, and USA. These experiences helped shape my view of the world and have a global perspective on things.
