My working career began at youth as the oldest son of a general building contractor. While my friends were able to stay home on Saturdays and watch cartoons, I was drug to the current construction site, to perform clean-up duty while Dad did building stuff. From that career beginning at the age of six, I came to love construction. It's now in my blood. I sought to earn a Construction Technology (CT) degree in college, but my guidance counselor noted my math ACT score of 33 out of 36, and he suggested pursuit of the Civil Engineering degree. CE could do everything of CT, but not vice-versa. My career track is like this - from college grad field engineer to self-employed GC to office engineer to forensic engineer. Architectural & civil structures (wood, masonry, steel, reinf conc), land development and infrastructure utilities are the bulk of my work experience, but some heavy steel, sewer, airport, stadium.

Kabul, Afghanistan
Department of State currently houses the majority of its guard force in a remote base in Kabul. This project seeks to solve that travel problem, by building a new living sustainment camp near and closer to the Kabul U.S. Embassy. I've been team leader of a 6-person engineering/construction management team. Thus far, I've been involved into extensive demolition operations, coordination/review/commenting of surveys, geotechnical investigations, drainage reports, Design-Build contractor submittals of all kinds, more. Other Markon project is closing, with those staffers rotating into this project. My position has been closed, and I have become available, with eye into another expatriate assignment.

Bagram AFB
Being the civil engineer of the group, I acted also as team leader of our 5-man technical professional group. Our assignment was to provide engineering, surveying and base planning support to the Air Force Civil Engineering Squadron, and their function was to improve/maintain/operate all within the restricted/secured limits of the Bagram AFB airfield. Apart from the base planning and surveying activities, our design team developed design conceptuals of ramp/taxiways/runway extensions, pavement repairs and replacements, airfield lighting expansions/improvements, renovations of buildings, evaluations/certifications of overhead rolling cranes, placement/sizing of solar cells for remote power-need locations, expansion/modifications to the Bagram power grid and generator power plants, new guarded control entry gates, building inventory of airfield assets, blast-proof improvements to some buildings, interface and design reviews of USACE airfield projects, more. The downsizing of Bagram AFB affected out task order, with the task order being closed February 2014.
