Ron Gonzales is President & CEO of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley. Ron Gonzales was also the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Presencia, LLC. He has over 50 years of experience in technology and public policy. Ron Gonzales’ personal philosophy is to help improve the quality of life for others. This philosophy has guided his over 50 years of experience in technology, public policy, and non-profit work. Currently, Gonzales serves as President and CEO of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the trajectory of life for Latinos in Silicon Valley. He served as Mayor of San José, the Capital of Silicon Valley and the nation’s 10th-largest city, from 1999 to 2006. His achievements included nationally recognized initiatives for strong neighborhoods, improved public education, and practical solutions to affordable housing and regional transportation projects. Mayor Gonzales may be best known for championing the extension of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) to San Jose and Silicon Valley. So much so that former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown nicknamed him “Mayor BART”. Gonzales served for eight years (1989-1996) on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and was a two-time mayor and member of the Sunnyvale City Council (1979-87). Gonzales is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Presencia, LLC, which provides marketing and sales consulting services. Additionally, Gonzales worked as an executive with the Hewlett-Packard Company in the areas of marketing, human resources, and corporate philanthropy. He currently serves on the boards of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County and KIPP Northern California Public Charter Schools, and the Urban Libraries Coalition. Education Program Manager (1997-1998) Introduced and managed a national education partnership between Hewlett-Packard (HP), local school districts, and universities designed to increase the number of women and minorities that pursue careers in engineering. · Developed and implemented a communication strategy to support HP’s public education programs. · Set objectives and policies; developed and implemented communications programs. Advised in the implementation of communication and public affairs programs to achieve HP’s education goals. Marketing and Human Resources (1979-1988) Held several management positions in computer marketing and human resource departments.

County Supervisor
Elected to serve as a member of the County Board of Supervisors for two consecutive 4 year terms. Chosen by board colleagues to serve as Board Chair in 1993. First Latino be elected as Supervisor in county history. Co-led an organization with a budget of $1.8 billion with 15,000 employees. · Recognized leader on technology, transportation, and criminal justice. · Championed changing the county’s budget to a performance-based budget. · Developed “Technology Now”, a countywide information technology bond program creatively financed with private sector funds. · Lead the re-engineering of the employee incentive program.

Market Program Manager
Developed and implemented marketing strategies to competitively position HP in various markets. Quantification, sizing, segmentation of markets. Served as a market resource for state and local government and public education vertical markets.

City Councilmember/Mayor
Elected to serve as City Councilmember for two consecutive 4 year terms. Chosen by council colleagues to serve as Mayor for 2 one year terms. First Latino elected as Councilmember in city history. · Helped initiate governmental efficiency measures that were recognized in the best-selling book Reinventing Government (Osborne, David, Gaebler, Ted.
