Product Validation of Aftertreatment systems for off-highway & on-highway vehicles

Teaching Assistant for AUE 4030 Automotive Project Tools & Techniques Training undergrad students on New Product Development Techniques. Assisting them in creating their own design idea on Mobility. Guiding them on the Stage gate design process, starting with customer voice, market feasibility study, QFD, APQP process, prototyping and finally product launch. Presenting their Product ideas in a "Shark Tank" style.

-Developing a High-speed Off-road Autonomy vehicle for GVSC, US Army. -Simulating powertrain systems in MATLAB & Simulink for component selection and creating the .dbc files using VectorCANdb++. -Developing the high-level system control architecture, defining the various states & fault codes for the vehicle. -Developing a Series Hybrid powertrain, setting up its test bench for HIL Testing. -Developing the Powertrain sub-system control sequence. -Systems integration on the vehicle prototype.

-Managing suppliers for parts development according to design specifications. -Ensuring their quality standards through supplier audits & PPAP inspection. -Champion of Vendor Management for EV and M&HCV production line. -Concern resolution of EV & BS6 Prototype buses. -Ensuring minimum IPTV (Incidents per Thousand Vehicles) and EPV (Expense per Vehicle) of supplier issues by continuous improvement to their process & design using 7QC Tools & supplier audits. -Warranty failure analysis performing FMEA with suppliers & executing 8D Action plan. -Decreased the supplier warranty failure rate by 30% YTD at the end of FY 2021.

With the COVID crisis, the main focus was on cash conservation & Working Capital Reduction. Improved production lead time from 97.8 min to 47.9 min & achieved cost saving worth 1 Million USD over the entire plant. Focusing on lean principles for reducing Working Capital, -Lean Design --> Reducing no. of parts & subassemblies, lighter & cheaper material options for making simpler designs using DFM & DFA. -Make vs Buy --> comparing vendor procurement & in-house subassembly cost & logistics -Lean Manufacturing --> reducing takt time & implementing simpler processes both in-house & at the vendor.

-Govt. organization, DST Young Scientist sponsored project worth 30 Lakh INR (400 Thousand USD). -Journal published by Mech Dept, NIT Trichy. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.energy.2019.01.079 -Combustion analysis of biodiesel extracted from Beal seeds (Aegle Marmalos) and comparison with diesel. -Simulation of biodiesel blends combustion to compare corrosion effects, friction coefficient, BTE & BSFC performance metrics and CO, HC & NO emissions with that of diesel.

Project on ways for replacing manual inspection with automated inspection to reduce bad quality of fruits reaching customers. Initially came up with idea of PACKSORT - image processing fruits with a regular camera in a box. But the internal quality of fruits was not ensured perfectly. Performed research on finding fruits quality using Spectrophotometer. Then looked into the ways of incorporating the Spectrophotometer for the quality inspection.

Led the Tamil Nadu & Kerala Region team in Designing products of Automotive & Home Décor for their Rapid Prototyping by 3D Printing Technique
