Undergone rigorous training (both classroom and on job) in managing a thermal power plant at various power projects of NTPC. Gained exhaustive knowledge about project management and managing systems and processes involved in power generation. Worked for five months as part of different functional and cross-functional task forces i.e. operations, electrical maintenance, erection, turbine group and boiler group on rotational basis. Learned the company culture and methodology to execute and operate power projects.

Led a team of 10 executives and 30 supervisors to manage complete commercial operation of $900M NTPC Mauda thermal power project and generate daily operational revenue of approximately $0.3M for the company by production of electric power. Increased project’s operational efficiency by 10 % by applying process analysis, optimization and lean concepts on power generation processes. I adjusted system settings and process handling procedures to optimize power generation processes. In addition to this, I balanced work-load among teams in order to reduce operational problems. Strategized a post-commissioning operations sustenance plan using control-charts & closed-loop actions to pro-actively resolve abnormalities, increasing plant’s production by 15%. I developed limits for 100+ operational parameters and used control charts to rigorously monitor variation in those parameters. I coordinated with different functional teams to brainstorm the cause of variation and implement preventive actions in a timely and coordinated way.

Designed and implemented a plan to scale up operation of a thermal power plant from 20% to full capacity within the stringent time-limit of 8 weeks. I led my inexperienced team to scale up plant processes and resolve bottlenecks to meet full-production requirements. Led my team to collaboratively work with different project teams in carrying out commissioning activities of diverse range of plant systems and equipments in a timely and sequenced manner to meet milestone targets. Accelerated execution of a $400M green-field power plant that was running five months behind schedule. Identified and implemented fast-track opportunities that meet risk-tolerance levels and cost constraints. Coordinated with 8 major vendors in the commissioning phase across different product categories to perform quality inspections, verify scope of work, discuss problems and ensure timely delivery.
