Hi Rod here. If I were to sum up my work, I'd say it's about supporting others to wake up and navigate their lives with greater heart, wisdom, integrity, and presence. My process-oriented approach draws on insights from diverse areas such as 4E cognitive science, phenomenology, behavioral science, systems thinking, somatics, ecopsychology, human development theory, Focusing, parts work, and even the mythic and traditional wisdoms.At the heart of my work is a lifelong curiosity about the human mind and what it means to live a full, optimal and meaningful life. More than two decades of client practice, and nearly as long designing and leading professional coach training programs, have deepened my curiosity in and understanding of how we humans most effectively grow, change, and lead.My approach is grounded in the emerging science of implicit embodied cognition which recognizes that more than 95% of our cognition functions outside conscious awareness, yet it's shaping every decision we make. I work with evidence-based methods to access this phenomenal resource and am always evolving coaching models that better integrate these principles, and publish about it in peer-reviewed academic journals.After leading and developing programs in Europe and the USA, I founded the ICF-accredited Emergent Coach Training at InterActualizer. I personally coach individuals, founders, entrepreneurs and leaders through Rod Francis Coaching (www.rodfranciscoaching.com). The Relational Reconnector (www.therelationalreconnector.com) is where I work with couples using Gottman informed tools coupled with many other interrelational skills.Outside of all this I live on a mountain in southern Appalachia with my wife and dog. As close to the wild as life currently allows. I love learning languages, trying to play obscure Carpathian woodwind instruments, hiking the hills, discovering and telling old stories, following the delightfully arcane game of cricket and just getting my hands dirty in the yard.If you'd like to explore how we can create a more meaningful story for you, then please do reach out.

The Story of Change was a monthly hour-long free ranging exploration of everything related to the topic of change hosted on NPR. From what it takes and means for us to grow and transform individually and how to negotiate change, all the way through to how change manifests and is effected socially, in organizations, corporations, communities and countries. I paused the show in February 2023 to concentrate on my other projects.
