Robin Rothstein
COO | CFO @ GiantLeap Capital
About
I am a Partner and CFO–COO of GiantLeap Capital, an emerging private investment firm investing across both private and public securities. I lead the firm’s finance, operations, compliance, and infrastructure, building an institutional-quality platform designed to support disciplined growth and increasing structural complexity. With more than 25 years in the investment management industry, I have built, scaled, and governed sophisticated investment platforms across private equity and hedge fund structures. My experience spans fund formation, SPVs, regulatory oversight, global operational buildouts, and the implementation of rigorous governance and risk management frameworks that protect capital and enable long-term performance. Previously, I was a Principal and Chief Operating Officer of Taconic Capital Advisors, where I led all non-investment functions globally and helped scale the firm from approximately $100 million to $10 billion in AUM. As chair of the firm’s counterparty risk group, I led the negotiation of counterparty agreements that positioned the firm to navigate the 2007–2008 financial crisis with resilience. Earlier in my career, I formed a $30 million private equity fund focused on investments in the Czech Republic and built the operational and reporting infrastructure for offices in Washington, DC and Prague.

Partner, Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Greater New York City Area
A key strategic and operating partner from the firm’s inception, I was instrumental in shaping business strategy and fund structures. Identified and executed new business initiatives and played a crucial role in defining the firm’s long-term trajectory and identity. I led the firm’s finance/treasury, accounting and operations departments, creating seamless cross-functional support for the firm’s investment activities and setting the stage for Taconic’s exponential growth over 13 years. I oversaw the management company’s $80M operating budget and I executed the firm’s registration with the SEC and various global regulators and led the establishment of the New York, London, and Hong Kong Offices. I created and chaired the firm’s internal Credit and Counterparty Risk Committee and pioneered the development and creation of a credit and counterparty risk strategy that successfully mitigated credit, legal and operating risks and allowed the firm to maintain significant margin balances with its counterparties during the credit crises of 2007, the break-up of Bear Sterns and the 2008 collapse of Lehman, without incurring material losses attributable to counterparties and while also maintaining financial flexibility for the Hedge Funds and available liquidity in excess of the investment professionals needs. Led the technology function, analyzing build versus buy initiatives, overseeing the implementation of technology systems and business workflows, and ensuring that the company’s infrastructure would remain compliant with all current and upcoming regulations and support all future business needs. I had a major role in the creation of the firm’s due diligence materials for investors and counterparties. I served on the firm’s Valuation Committee, Business Continuity Plan Committee and the firm’s Management Committee and I served as an executive director of the firm’s Cayman domiciled funds.
