Pursuing my passion for enhancing sustainability in the agri- and horticultural sector at Greenhouse Sustainability. As a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) specialist, my focus revolves around calculating the environmental footprint of companies and their products, aiming to provide insights into and help them mitigate their environmental impact. In addition to providing consultancy services, we are dedicated to developing cutting-edge tooling solutions, fostering an ecosystem for companies seeking to minimize their environmental footprint efficiently and effectively. As an LCA specialist, I am committed to making sustainability quantifiable, comprehensible, and accessible to stakeholders across all food related sectors!

During this internship I developed a black soldier fly rearing setup capable of upcycling tomato plant waste from greenhouses. I gained valuable insights into insect production, designing biosystems, and analyses of environmental growing conditions while working alongside a multidisciplinary team of R&D researchers, agronomists, software developers, and sales professionals in the high-tech horticultural sector.

Rewarded 8.5/10 MSc Thesis on the carbon, land, and water life cycle footprint of greenhouse and vertical farm lettuce cultivation, with the aim of providing transparency and a better understanding of the inapparent impacts of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). This research helped me establish a well-founded understanding in the assessment and integrate balance of sustainability in CEA systems, both within and outside the direct system boundaries.

Rewarded 10/10 MSc thesis on the root metabolomics of the South African resurrection plant Myrothamnus flabellifolius, as a joined project between the Systems Biology department of the University of Cape Town and the Laboratory of Plant Physiology at Wageningen University. While partially conducting my research in South Africa, I familiarized myself with open field research, sampling methods and laboratory research while discovering new metabolites playing a crucial role in the drought tolerance of this unique plant.
