This is a volunteer service position. The Friends of York River State Park is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the mission of the park: “The purpose of York River State Park, a Chesapeake Bay Gateway site, is to provide premiere outdoor recreational, research, and educational opportunities while protecting and interpreting, in perpetuity, the unique natural, historical, and cultural resources of the lower peninsula of Virginia.” We accomplish this by supplying funds, materials, and labor for park projects, as well as educating the community about their local state park through various programs and events.
