Roberta Marroquin

I am a Mexican photographer whose work explores cultural identity and the spiritual essence of heritage through evocative and timeless narratives. With over two decades of experience, I combine editorial, documentary, and fine art photography to tell stories that transcend time and space, honoring the eternal spirit of cultures, places, and objects. My artistic journey began in Monterrey, Mexico, in 1996 and evolved during a transformative nine-year chapter in Paris. There, I studied at Parsons School of Design and immersed myself in the city's rich photographic tradition, developing my signature style of capturing images in complete darkness. In 2008, I moved to New York City, where I expanded my practice, continually inspired by Mexico's indigenous cosmo-vision and the beauty of the world's most remote landscapes. As a passionate explorer and advocate for cultural preservation, my collaborations include work with the Tribal Trust Foundation and En Classe, using photography to support global philanthropic causes. My projects have been exhibited in venues such as the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, the Arsenal of Venice, the Mona Bismarck Foundation in Paris, and the MARCO Museum in Monterrey. I was also honored as a finalist at the 2016 FEMSA Biennale in Mexico. Today, based in New York City, I continue to create immersive visual stories that reflect my respect for nature, cultural diversity, and the spiritual legacy of humanity. Through my work, I aim to connect audiences to narratives that celebrate identity, resilience, and timeless beauty.
