Mechanical Systems, Structures, and Dynamics group. -System-level Finite Element analysis using ANSYS Classic (APDL), with some ANSYS Workbench and Patran/Nastran -Power Spectral Density (PSD) analysis for shock and vibration on aircraft Environmental Control Systems. -Nonlinear Plastic Analysis -System loads data generation for subsequent lower-level detailed analysis -Topology optimization

Work primarily associated with FireFinder weapon-locating radars and Sentinel air-defense radars. -Customer support (Onsite and offsite) to ensure both physical hardware and documentation needs have been met. -Supplier coordination to implement new designs and design changes -Modeling and simulation (CFD / FEA), failure analysis & corrective action efforts. -Mechanical Design and Drafting, mockup construction and prototyping support -Bench testing, HALT testing, test fixture design, and Qual Test / Acceptance Test authoring for thermal and airflow performance verification -Support of Configuration Control Board (CCB) efforts to facilitate Technical Data Package deliverable to the customer This position has helped develop a broad range of skills while gaining expertise in a single product line. Job performance was facilitated by familiarity with the needs of other departments (Program Office, Supply Chain, Quality) to help process run smoothly.

Providing engineering product development services to companies in the Los Angeles / Orange County area: -Design and development of children's toys, including complex linked mechanisms incorporating springs, magnets, etc. Design, Kinematic analysis, and prototyping support. -Detailed thermal analysis of circuit card cooling solutions with ICEPAK -Circuit board packaging in SolidWorks -MasterCAM to Inventor CAD translation services for PCB soldering and inspection tooling used in the medical industry (personal insulin pumps)

* R&D department in a Class 1 medical device company: * Design and development of a next-generation microprocessor controlled knee for transfemoral amputees, from project chartering to market release and beyond. * System requirements generation and architecture definition * Prototyping and characterization of new electromechanical systems and sensors * Project management for sustaining and product improvement efforts * Materials testing and part qualification, Validation and Verification * Voice-of-Customer, Design for Manufacturing, PFMEA/DFMEA generation
