IT Leadership and IT & Business Strategy Alignment: Serve on Academy’s core leadership team, aligning IT objectives with organizational mission, keeping senior management informed of impending issues, and advising on corrective actions. IT Security Operations, Security Implementation, and IT Security Policies: Define, design, and implement security strategy and roadmap, securing internal and external systems through policy implementation and compliance, physical security implementation, and software application design. Cybersecurity and Security Incident Response: Manage responses to cyberattacks and security threats (including data recovery operations and digital forensic investigations), ensuring security of all data and systems. Security Controls, Network Architecture, and Briefing: Guarantee security of highly sensitive cybersecurity training platforms through innovative systems architecture. Regularly brief senior military leaders on the direction, scope, and security of the project. Server Architecture and Regulatory Compliance: Designed and implemented a secured multilevel server farm for Academy cloud-based training course that serves 28,000 users annually. Ensured compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP). IT Infrastructure Design and Threat & Vulnerability Management: Architected new infrastructure protected by Cisco Firepower and Splunk, with a Nessus Passive Vulnerability Scanner (PVS) within each module. Network Operations Center (NOC), Threat & Vulnerability Management, and Cybersecurity Incident Management: Managed the DC3 Network Operations Center/Security Operations Center, resolving ~125 cybersecurity threats per month, including port security violations and external threats from system probes. Digital Forensics and Security Architecture Design: Led 2 digital forensic investigations, initiating incident response and recovery within 12 hours of attacks. Re-architected infrastructure with restrictive/modular design, resulting in 0 breaches in past 3 years. Strategic Planning and System Deployment: Developed and implemented security plans for an enterprise level network serving ~30,000 end users and deployment of a virtual private cloud. Training Course Development and Security Training: As a senior advisor at the DoD Cyber Investigations Training Academy, created and taught courses for federal and state law enforcement officers on network intrusions, malware analysis, live network investigations, and forensics in a Windows environment. Malware Analysis and Student Engagement: Designed a new malware analysis course based on current threats and trends, receiving 100% favorable feedback from students and providing effective hands-on skills upon graduation. Security Incident Response and Team Leadership: Led an incident response team after private emails and student information were compromised. Infrastructure Development and Process Improvement: Created new system infrastructure, increasing the security posture and system uptime to over 99%.

Co-authored a thesis on using IPv6 for covert channels. We designed and implemented a covert channel using the ICMPv6 layer and demonstrated its effectiveness for a Government Agency.
