For almost 30 years, I have worked as a banker, consultant, private equity investor and adviser to closely held companies. As a banker, I funded numerous projects, participated in acquisition due diligence, worked with the Chief Credit Officer at Nationsbank to approve the bank's largest loans, and made many of the largest loans at Carolina First. As an adviser or investor in companies, I helped many company owners, CEOs, and boards of directors explore and analyze a wide range of strategic and tactical issues, acquire companies, raise debt or equity, restructure their balance sheets, or locate buyers for their companies. As a Naval Officer for 24 years (active and reserves), I held a wide variety of leadership positions including command of two reserve units, one of which was twice called to active duty as a result of our good work and training.
