As a member of flash solutions division, I worked on Virtual Flash project aimed at emulating MLC/TLC NAND flash memories. On Processing System (PS) component of Xilinx's Zynq 7000 SoC, we have developed a multithreaded Linux application that would help Virtual Flash emulate various scenarios a flash memory would undergo during its lifetime. During the project, I got hands-on experience with - Zynq 7000 SoC, - PetaLinux BSP, - Device Tree, - AXI4 Stream, AXI4 Lite interfaces, - flash memory interface - ONFI 4.0, - UIO device driver, - Socket Programming - TFTP, Network File System, - Insights into Micron's L06B NAND flash memory. I also worked on emulation of backend and core firmware algorithms that are designed to improve NAND flash memories' life and performance by countering the effects of Read Disturb, Write Amplification, Data Retention, etc, worked on read error path - H/S-LDPC, RAISE-I; write error path and erase error path My primary responsibilities included but not limited to development of emulation code, firmware debugging, collaborating with algorithm designers, firmware developers. As a cloud solutions division member, I have contributed in Hardware Abstraction Layer development of non-server based storage enclosures. This work gave me the opportunity to work on the development of firmware which is platform and OS agnostic. Worked primarily on following languages: C, Python and C++.
