Rishabh’s work concatenated the fundamentals of electrical contacts, tribology, and reliability to improve the life-cycles of RF switches often operating at low loads. These switches failed primarily due to fretting wear and corrosion, however, lubrication posed one way to mitigate the contact’s surface degradation, and to effectively enhance their electrical performance. Hence, he studied the rheological effects of using various fluid-based and semi-solid-based lubricants on the switches’ fretting performance, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
