About
Whether I’m working as a “lone writer” or as part of team, I’m motivated by learning, problem-solving, and making a real impact through my work.I value growth, curiosity, and meaningful collaboration. I’m particularly interested in roles that allow me to develop new skills, take ownership of projects, and contribute to something bigger than myself. For example:• At ECSI, a Global Payments Company, I used Google Docs to write/edit numerous documents associated with an IT cybersecurity project that ensured compliance with the requirements of a Texas regulatory body.• My primary focus at Moody’s Analytics was on researching data pertaining to the standard reports within Credit Lens, a proprietary tool of Moody's Analytics• As the “lone writer” at Innovative Systems, Inc., I effectively maintained the accuracy and quality of more than a dozen user manuals that regularly accompanied ISI’s frequent software releases.Outside of work, I’m constantly exploring new tools, trends, and ways to improve—both professionally and personally. (See Continuing Education, below.) You can reach me on LinkedIn or through my personal email: rkloh@msn.com. • As principal assistant to project manager, I was responsible for writing/editing numerous documents associated with an IT cybersecurity project that ensured compliance with the requirements of a Texas regulatory body • Based on NIST and other standards, these documents detailed the policies and procedures for proactively detecting, assessing, and resolving potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities • I also collaborated with senior executives and other SMEs to gather information and assure the technical accuracy of finished documents • Organized these complex topics into easy-to-understand language for users of all levels. • Met deadlines while maintaining high-quality deliverables.

• I researched and wrote user manuals in Confluence • My primary focus was on researching data pertaining to the standard reports within Credit Lens, a proprietary tool of Moody's Analytics • Via online training courses, I quickly learned the proper use of this tool. • I also researched NIST and ISO standards for their applicability to the Credit Lens-generated data. • As a result, I produced high-quality documentation that met applicable standards and was appropriate for its intended audience of internal/external users • My other responsibilities included editing various other documents to ensure that they adhered to company style guidelines. • Also, I maintained version control system records for tracking document changes over time.

• I effectively maintained the accuracy and quality of more than a dozen user manuals that regularly accompanied ISI's frequent software releases. In addition, I often used Visio to create the diagrams incorporated into these manuals. • Using Confluence, I created the first generation of online help for ISI's proprietary FINSCAN software • I also created a documentation style guide and updated the fonts and layouts to give the manuals a more modern look • In my first year at ISI, I wrote concise, effective marketing emails designed to generate sales leads • I also created much of the content used to update the company website • To ensure the accuracy and quality of all these projects, I collaborated with SME's in sales, marketing, quality assurance, customer support, and development

• As technical writing manager, I improved company profitability by writing and supervising the creation of effective process documentation, manuals, release notes, and technical bulletins for Tele-Tracking’s medical-related software • I also went onsite at customer locations (i.e. hospitals) to research the use of Tele-Tracking’s products and then incorporated that information into the documentation • Prior to becoming technical writing manager, I was one of three writers who collaborated on creating and updating a detailed, 200+ page internal guide devoted exclusively to information about a new generation of web-based applications • On a daily basis, I collaborated with subject matter experts in multiple departments to develop detailed product descriptions • I also led a review of online help tools that resulted in the documentation team’s transition from MS Word and RoboHelp to Madcap Flare • Following the transition, I used Flare to create context-sensitive help for several software upgrades, including those related to hand-held medical devices

• Researched, wrote, maintained, updated (and sometimes designed) technical, sales, marketing, and training material for numerous clients. The following is a partial list: • Westinghouse • Fisher Scientific • Matthews International • Garland Way Advertising • PNC Corporation • Leybold Corporation • Pittsburgh Magazine • For Westinghouse, Fisher Scientific, Matthews, and other corporations on this list, I interviewed internal personnel to gather the information I needed to write dozens of newsletter articles. For example, I interviewed numerous people at Westinghouse for a series of articles I wrote on the rollout of new computer equipment. • For Westinghouse’s nuclear and water/wastewater divisions, I sometimes worked round-the-clock to meet the short, but critical deadlines involved in editing proposals submitted to customers seeking Westinghouse’s services and equipment. • For Fisher Scientific, I researched, wrote, edited, and designed many sections of their 2000+ page product catalog. These sections described the features and benefits of products ranging from low-tech laboratory equipment (like beakers and test tubes) to high-tech computer equipment. • For Garland Way Advertising, I wrote monthly direct mail letters and flyers promoting the electrical and ventilation products of their client, H. K. Porter Company. I also wrote speeches for Porter’s executives to deliver at their annual sales award dinner. • For PNC Corporation, I wrote a brochure describing the features and benefits of a new website customers could access for information relating to their financial investments. • For Leybold Corporation, I researched and wrote brochures and catalogs describing the features and benefits of their vacuum pump technology. • For Pittsburgh Magazine, I wrote a long feature profiling the men and women from western Pennsylvania prominent in the comic book industry.
