Select suitable candidates via interviews and induction sessions for positions within Morrisons Distribution Center in Bridgwater. Allocate shifts to agency employees and monitor time sheets. Carried out briefings prior to the commencement of each shift.

My first experience at self employment which I thoroughly enjoyed and took on as a personal challenge. The business was bought in partnership with my wife at the time with her having the responsibility of the Post Office position whilst I took control of the day to day running of the shop including implementing a 250 drop paper round delivery service for the local area. We also undertook a total refit of the shop and introduced a tea room as well as other improvements. We nearly doubled the turnover in our short time there whilst maintaining a healthy profit margin. Long hours, lots of hard work and dedication but never regretted.

Responsible for implementing new storage layouts in line with business demands. Continuously looking at ways to improve picking efficiency and allocate suitable locations for new product lines.

Started with the company as a van driver and swiftly progressed to stores assistant and then stores manager for the Stratford on Avon branch. Responsible for stock control and stores and van staff. Had a short spell on the road as a sales representative but found store based sales much more to my liking.

I joined the army as a boy soldier completing my trade and driver training before being posted to Marchwood Military Port. During my time there I was employed in various clerical roles including the documentation office and also as a Squadron and Regimental Orderly clerk. I had two tours in the Falklands and attained the rank of Acting Lance Corporal.
