Concentrated on the design of infrastructures including servers, storage, workstations, middleware, non-application software, networks, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by each of several clients. Included in the focus areas was the critical evaluation and selection of the software and hardware components of the infrastructure. * Constructed and maintained a local area network and global wide area network of Unix, Microsoft and Novell based servers and workstations. * Installed and maintained Progress databases. * Installed and maintained the company’s PBX telephone network. * Integrated Internet, WAN, LAN and PBX into a common communications backbone, eliminating all long distance telephone connections between their thirteen offices. * Created the company’s Internet presence with the implementation of a corporate web site, firewall protection to the LAN / WAN, ftp servers for client files and schematics, email servers with integration to Lotus CCMail and client access to restricted sections of the databases. * Developed corporate intranet for online training, documentation and ISO9002 compliance with Apache servers. * Responsible for LAN / WAN / Server security.

Designed and implemented a corporate wide interactive Progress database which automated all marketing, point of sale, estimating, purchasing, construction, financing and closing of custom product, allowing accurate pricing and mortgage initiation at the sales offices throughout the region. Automated the design and drafting department with AutoCAD computer aided design and virtual walk through of product, replacing all drafting boards and blueprint machines and increasing productivity by over 50%. Migrated all existing computer operations from legacy Burroughs mainframe and Novell network to a single Unix local/wide area network saving the company several thousand dollars annually in maintenance contracts and several hundred thousand dollars in computer upgrades.

Created a custom programming shop/hardware installation and maintenance company. Within it's first two years of operation the company was positioned as a sole source contractor for workstation sales and maintenance by the US Air Force, Kirtland AFB, Weapons Laboratory computer facility and the Sandia National Laboratories computer facility. Wrote custom software consisting of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll software to meet Davis Bacon compliance.

* Supervised operation and control of the USAF Weapons Laboratory computer facility. * Operations consisted of internetworked computer systems from Control Data, Cray, Data General, DEC and IBM which were accessed by major research centers through the ARPANET. * Managed physical and electronic security during classified sessions for the facility. * Coordinated and managed the duties of five different vendor supplied engineers, fourteen computer operators and six programmers. Awarded Presidential Unit Citation for excellent service. * Tactical Fighter Wing(56th) and Squadron (94th, 526th) Operations. Awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for superior performance and initiative. * Maintained a Top Secret security clearance throughout my Air Force tenure.
