Prior, as a lawyer, he was an Associate in the Finance and Banking Department at Pavia e Ansaldo (Rome), mainly working structured finance, cross-border investment and project finance. He was involved in advising sovereign entities in Italy and Africa. Before Pavia e Ansaldo, Riccardo was a consultant for various companies and private investors with interests in Africa.
