Hi, I’m Riaz. I split my time between Toronto and New York, living those dual citizen vibes after years of moving around. These cities feel like home now. I’m obsessed with engineering and love building software that users find effortless. I got my start with Ruby and JavaScript, but we’re now stepping into a new era with natural language computing. Rather than fear or hype, let's play. We have new tools to learn and these tools are weird and incredible. The engineering community is my heart. I ran the Atlanta Ruby Meetup with 3,000 members, grew TechTank in Toronto to over 2,000, and now lead APIs and IPAs in Toronto, hitting 1,700 members and counting. Mentors shaped me as an engineer, and I’m passionate about paying it forward. As founding CTO of a startup, I helped fuel 3000% growth in three years, earning us a spot on the Inc 5000 list for five years running. I’ve worked on ventures that didn’t pan out, but those failures taught me a lot. Careers are unpredictable, and I’m ready for whatever comes next.
