I was responsible for uploading content onto the CancerStats website using OUCM and ensuring that all data was presented clearly and accurately. I used Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver to create publications and update basic infographics. Additionally, I provided administrative support to the Statistical Information Team and took responsibility for the conventions log.

As Social Pensions Evidence and Communications Intern I was responsible for maintaining and improving communications channels, in particular the Pension Watch site. I also supported the development of communications materials, both in terms of online content and publications. I took responsibility for the finalisation of publications, including liaising with editors, designers and printers and checking proofs. I undertook desk-based research to update the Social Pensions Database. Additionally, I co-facilitated a workshop on livelihoods which was held in Maputo.

As Social Protection Administrator I continued to improve communication channels, established a Pension Watch twitter account, encouraged international staff to contribute online content in the form of blogs and began to integrate video content. I also continued to provide routine administrative support to the social protection team and international staff as well as training in using the CMS, social media and digital marketing software. I produced monthly overviews of visitor numbers and trends via Google Analytics, as well as summaries of download numbers from the Knowledge Centre – an online resource centre for publications relating to social protection. I also compiled this information for donors, where required. I continued to oversee the publication process, including creating dissemination plans and monitoring their reach.

I provided desk-based research support to the Social Protection team. I was asked to research issues relating to social-sector service delivery in Nigeria; in particular issues arising from lack of capacity, inter-governmental relations and mis-management of funds. I also looked at past and current social sector programmes and evaluated their strengths and weaknesses. This included considering what steps had been taken to increase the effectiveness of aid. I provided a summary of key findings as well as an annotated bibliography. My research contributed towards the paper 'Social Protection in Nigeria: Mapping Programmes and Their Effectiveness'.
