🖥 IT & 🗺 GIS The IT & GIS Manager is responsible for managing the Town's IT & GIS projects and ensuring they are executed efficiently and effectively. This includes overseeing IT & GIS staff, managing IT Help Desk, asset management systems, integrating information systems, and optimizing IT infrastructure and cybersecurity. Key responsibilities include: • Conducted a comprehensive infrastructure remediation project, updating servers, fortifying network security, and establishing robust backup systems. • Pioneered Microsoft 365 adoption, progressively streamlining communication and collaboration across the organization while enhancing user security, user experience and cost-efficiency. • Centralization of all municipal asset data into an enterprise geo-database, serving as the single source of truth for the Town of Qualicum Beach. • Migration of work orders system from legacy asset management system to enterprise geo-database and applications, streamlining asset management operations. • Design and implementation of a new work order system and field mobile applications, enhancing analytics and automating asset management tasks. • Creation of dashboards with Power BI and ArcGIS, providing real-time data analytics and visualization capabilities for supervisors and field staff. • Categorization of user needs into distinct tiers for cost optimization and migration of core HR and MIS functions to SharePoint, reducing operational expenses. • Enhanced municipal IT cybersecurity by implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), DNS Attack Protection, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Password Management, and VPN solutions, coupled with extensive staff training in cybersecurity awareness. • Launched an initiative to incorporate Generative AI in municipal operations, targeting a reduction in manual process requirements and overcoming technological challenges, while boosting efficiency and digital literacy, even with resource constraints.
