TRIO Peer Mentor - Student Success Center @ Loyola University New Orleans

About

I am a Computer Science student at Loyola University New Orleans concentrating in Cybersecurity, driven by a genuine interest in how technology can be built to protect people and support real communities. I care deeply about creating secure systems that make sense to the people using them, and I am especially interested in work that connects security, ethics, and thoughtful design rather than technology in isolation. In 2024, I was honored to be named an Entergy Scholar and to receive donor funded scholarships through Loyola. These recognitions reflect not only my academic commitment, but also my consistency, reliability, and willingness to show up and lead. I stay actively involved in STEM and cybersecurity spaces through organizations such as Women in Cybersecurity, Women in STEM, and STEM NOLA, where I value mentorship and expanding access for students who may not always see themselves represented in tech. Through my coursework, I have developed a strong foundation in computer science and cybersecurity, including object oriented programming in C++ and Java, cryptography fundamentals, relational databases and SQL, computing ethics, and corporate cybersecurity strategy. What excites me most is understanding how technical systems, policy decisions, and human behavior intersect, and learning how to design solutions that are both secure and responsible. Outside of academics, I am a student athlete in Track and Field and actively involved in TRIO and LUCAP. Balancing athletics, leadership, and a rigorous technical major has strengthened my discipline, time management, and ability to collaborate under pressure. These experiences shape how I approach challenges and how I show up in team environments. I am currently seeking internship opportunities in cybersecurity and technology focused roles where I can continue learning while contributing meaningful work. I enjoy connecting with professionals, mentors, and peers who value growth, integrity, and community. I am always open to conversation and collaboration.

As a TRIO Peer Mentor, I support and guide first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities as they adjust to college life. Being part of TRIO myself, I know how valuable these resources and connections are when you’re trying to find your place, stay motivated, and believe in your potential. My role focuses on helping students build confidence, stay organized, and connect with the right academic and personal support on campus. I also collaborate with the TRIO staff to plan workshops, social events, and outreach activities that strengthen our community and make every student feel seen and supported. It’s an honor to give back to the same program that continues to help me grow at Loyola, both as a student and as a mentor.
