Relebohile Matsie

I have always believed that language is the foundation of opportunity, and as an educator, my mission is to help students navigate the world with confidence in both English and Sesotho. My journey in education has been driven by a fascination with how we lead and govern our classrooms, which led me to pursue my B.Ed Honours in Management and Governance. During my Honours studies, I took a deep dive into the human side of school leadership through my research paper, "Exploring Teachers’ Implementation of Social Justice Leadership in the Classroom." This project allowed me to investigate how we, as educators, can lead with equity and fairness—a philosophy I bring into every classroom to ensure that all learners, regardless of their background, have a seat at the table. This commitment to mentorship and leadership was put into practice during my time at the University of the Free State in 2024. As an English facilitator for first-year students, I moved beyond the standard curriculum to help diverse learners master academic literacy. My TEFL certification further specialized this work, giving me the tools to support non-native speakers in a way that is both patient and effective. I’ve always been someone who steps up when leadership is needed, whether it was acting as the bridge between students and faculty as a Class Representative for ENGL 2714 and 2724, or ensuring administrative precision behind the scenes with marking and record-keeping. I thrive in environments that require high-level organization and a dedicated work ethic. I am now looking to bring this blend of bilingual instruction, leadership research, and management insight to a forward-thinking educational team. I would love to connect with fellow professionals who are passionate about the future of South African education.
