By joining Deep Blue Costs I have positioned myself with a forward thinking company with a modern approach required for the ever evolving costs industry. I have been tasked with the set up of the London office to increase the national presence for the already well established costs consultancy. My work includes brand development, operations and logistical support. I manage client portfolios and continue to provide a complete legal costs service. This includes preparing Formal Bills and Form H Budgets, Statement of Costs for all types of work which include high value and Catastrophic Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Dental claims, Employer Liability, Occupier & Public Liability, Commercial and Property Disputes. I deal with my own costs negotiations, costs proceedings and provide accurate and detailed advice to my clients. In addition I act for Litigants in Person and for proceedings under the Solicitors Act. I am able to provide advocacy at Detailed Assessment, Interim Applications and Costs Management Conferences.

Joining the Parabis group has given me the opportunity to work under the umbrella of Plexus Law, Cogent Law and Acumen Costs. I have a mix caseload of Claimant and Defendant work, finally giving me a rounded view of both sides of the fence. In addition taking a step back from Management I have now had the opportunity to get involved in the Advocacy side of the industry. However, I still maintain responsibility of providing guidance to junior members of the team. Working in-house I enjoy the direct contact with fee earners and try my best to show them that not all Cost Lawyers are boring!! The type of work both Claimant and Defendant consists of Personal Injury, RTA, Clinical Negligence, Dental claims, Employer Liability, Occupier & Public Liability and Property Disputes.

Being the first Costs Draftsman to join the newly opened London Office, I was proactively involved in the early development and expansion of the department. On two separate occasions I acted as interim manager of the London office and had the opportunity of being one of the first Associates within the London office. I managed a team of up to seven which include two trainees, this included participating in the interviewing stage. I would routinely be involved in meeting with clients, providing costs seminars to clients and managing client relations. I was involved in the quality checking of work and communications, liaising directly with Partners and Senior Staff to provide performance reports. I predominantly worked on the Claimant side with the odd Defendant work. Although I managed a PI Fast Track/Multi-Track team my own caseload consisted of serious injury Personal Injury, RTA, Clinical Negligence, Commercial, Employer Liability, Occupier & Public Liability, Industrial Disease claims, Boundary and Contract Disputes.

When I first joined Meruit Costs, I was part of a team outsourced to work in-house within an external client’s office. I soon became in charge of the outsourced project and managed the client’s expectations. This project lasted 2 years, following which I returned to Lyons Davidson. On my return I joined the technical drafting team for a period and shortly after I took on the role of managing my own team. In addition to the usual costing services I was proactive in getting involved in other areas of the business. My experience included managing an alliance agreement and auditing, organising a job fair and recruiting 3 trainees from the fair, interviewing and training new staff, providing training to regional offices, performance and data analyst, managing external clients and getting involved in marketing. My core work was Claimant orientated within Personal Injury, RTA, Clinical Negligence, Occupiers & Public liability and Employment disputes.

By joining Civil and Commercial Costs Lawyers I have positioned myself with a forward thinking company and a market leading organisation. I have the task of managing the Clinical Negligence and High Value Multi-Track team, I report to clients and direct to the Senior Directors and Management. I continue to prepare Formal Bills and Form H Budgets, Statement of Costs for all types of work which include high value Personal Injury, RTA, Clinical Negligence, Dental claims, Employer Liability, Occupier & Public Liability and Property Disputes. I provide advice and negotiate on costs, running cases from cradle to grave.
