Reade Fahs
Executive Chairman @ National Vision Inc.
About
Most of my career has been spent in the optical industry/community in the U.S. and Europe. For the past 24 years, I have focused on providing low cost eye exams, eye glasses, and contact lenses to budget conscious Americans as CEO of National Vision (NASDAQ: EYE), the 3rd largest optical retailer in the U.S.. National Vision’s Mission is to make quality eye care and eyewear both affordable and accessible. We do this as a business in America and philanthropically both in America and throughout the World. I strive to create environments where talented, optically-oriented Associates and Optometrists can create life-giving, fulfilling, and meaningful long term careers for themselves. Philanthropically, for over 20 years I’ve focused on helping to get eyeglasses to people in the greatest need at scale in places like India, Bangladesh and throughout Latin America. Recent involvements include: *Public Health: I have served as Chairman of VisionSpring (www.visionspring.org) for over a decade and have served on the Board of RestoringVision (www.restoringvision.org) since 2008. During this period these 2 groups have helped over 30 million people to be able to see again via eyeglasses. *Business: I served on the Board of Affordable Care Inc. (a leading provider of low cost dentures for budget conscious Americans) from 2016 to 2021 and Ditto (Virtual Try-On for eyeglasses) from 2014 to 2021. In 2022 I joined the board of PetVet —-a large KKR owned U.S. veterinary platform. (www.petvetcarecenters.com) *Academic: I have served on the Board of Salus University (formerly Pennsylvania College of Optometry) from 2017 to 2024 and was honored to receive their Presidential Medal of Honor. Previously I served on the Board of Wilberforce University (the country’s oldest private HBCU). I have also been active in my own college’s alumni activities in a variety of ways/offices for several decades. *Cultural: Ever since high school I’ve loved how theater builds empathy and creates community. More recently, I was Board Chair of Atlanta’s Alliance Theater (2013-2016), served on the Board of the Woodruff Arts Center, and in 2018-2019 my wife and I co-produced a critically acclaimed Broadway musical, “The Prom,” which was nominated for 7 Tony Awards and won the 2019 Drama Desk Award for “Best Musical”. Currently my wife and I are Co-Producers of “Maybe Happy Ending” on Broadway which won 6 Tony awards in 2025 including “Best Musical.”
