Rabih Bashroush

Professor Bashroush serves as a strategic adviser to both public and private sector IT infrastructure initiatives, with a focus on AI data centres, investment attraction, power infrastructure, resilience, sustainability, and talent development. He was named among the UK universities’ Top 100 Best Breakthroughs for his pioneering work on energy conservation in ICT and received the Industry Initiative of the Year award at the DCD Global Awards 2018 for the EURECA project. His research was recognised as world-leading (4*) in the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF2021). He has led major European initiatives, including EURECA and the European Commission DG CONNECT Smart Cities research cluster, and continues to advise governments such as those of the UK, Ireland, and the European Commission. Professor Bashroush chairs the Telecoms Sector Committee at the British Standards Institution (BSI), contributing to IT infrastructure standardisation in collaboration with CEN, CENELEC, ETSI, ISO, and IEC. His work has shaped several international policies and legislative frameworks, including the EU Green Public Procurement (GPP), EMAS, and EcoDesign directives. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications.
