Owner and Mental Health Therapist of Fayebird Counseling, PLLC. With over 13 years of experience with at-risk youth in schools and juvenile justice populations- I specialize with youth who are skeptical about counseling or feel it is ineffective. Fayebird Counseling welcomes all healing journeys including, but not limited to, substance use/abuse, oppositional defiant behaviors, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, suicide ideation, trauma, self-esteem, and parenting concerns. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My experiences include creating socio-emotional growth curriculums for students and staff. The curriculums include how to recognize emotions, how to cope, how and when to seek help, etc. I thrive working with the most at-risk students, ranging issues from drugs and violence, homelessness to teen pregnancy, school dropouts to severe mental health diagnoses. My skills consist of crisis intervention, mediations, recognizing mental health diagnoses, suicidal, threat, and violence assessments, as well as building relationships with local agencies and organizations. I am trauma-informed and understand the connection between biology and psychology. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which has been beneficial in working with clients to work through their trauma. Using relevant research and data to connect with neighboring networks and resources only creates a stronger support network for residents and provide a proactive opportunity when integrated care is necessary. I am empathetic, self-aware, flexible with my theories, and hold a multicultural worldview. I have strong interpersonal skills and am quick to build rapport with others.
