Developed the strategy for the treatment and safe storage of highly radioactive fuel reprocessing and isotope production legacy waste stored in tanks at the AECL Chalk River Site.

Development and testing of electron beam radiation technique for de-lignification of wood chips for use in the pulp and paper industry. - Led the development of a pilot plant that successfully produced a generic form of a commercial herbicide funded by Saskatchewan farming community Focus on Inputs. - Investigated separation techniques for the removal of chlorophyll from Canola oil to improve shelf life.

Worked in a Commercial Special Projects team established to market Chemical Separations technology in the oil, food, mining and hazardous waste sectors funded by industry. Technologies investigated include, Supercritical Fluid Extraction, ultra/microfiltration separation techniques, solvent recovery by distillation, and solvent extraction.

* Managed $15M Research and Development (R&D) program under the Enhanced CANDU 6 (EC6) Reactor Development Project comprising development and qualification testing, and computer code development and validation. * o Produced technical requirements document for R&D program -reviewed and accepted by Canadian regulator. * o Produced detailed R&D Plan comprising drivers, scope, objectives and acceptance criteria – reviewed and accepted by Canadian regulators. * o Produced Scope of Work documents for contracting work package to performing organization and issued Purchase Orders to external organizations. * o Reviewed and accepted plan, procedures and reports for individual test programs. * o Monitored cost and schedule performance using project management tools such as Primavera.

Design, construction, commissioning and licensing of a new $50M medical isotope production and waste management facility (NPF) at AECL Chalk River Site: o Commissioning Manager of the MMIR Project - isotope production and radioactive waste management facility (January 1999 – September 2008) o Licensing Manager, MMIR Project - led for the licensing process with the regulators for the MAPLE Reactor and the NPF concurrently in the role of Commissioning Manager for medical isotope production facility (September 2000 – March 2002). o Led the engineering development and design of five-unit hot cell facility for production of medical isotopes an treatment of highly radioactive wastes. Managed $35M of international contracts awarded to AREVA (formerly SGN) and Fluor Canada in the design, construction and commissioning of the MMIR medical isotope production facility.

Led the evaluation and development of improved isotope production technologies, safe management of isotope production and stored liquid wastes, and the development of waste management strategies. This work contributed to a new isotope production business model, and two AECL patents. - Managed the Heavy Water Upgrading Plant.

Graduated with BSc. Hons Clas II Division I in Chemical Engineering. - Led the development program to scale-up a novel liquid-liquid extraction equipment for the separation of heat sensitive immiscible liquids leading to a Ph.D degree in Chemical Engineering.
