My career began with writing the screenplay for Braveheart, a story that celebrated courage, freedom, and the indomitable human will. This project not only earned an Academy Award® nomination for Best Picture but also ignited my dedication to storytelling that moves and inspires. Transitioning from writing to directing, I had the privilege of bringing The Man in the Iron Mask to the big screen in 1998, weaving a tale of intrigue, honor, and redemption. My directorial ventures continued with films like We Were Soldiers and Secretariat, each project a testament to the resilience and strength of the human character. Beyond film, I have authored several books, sharing insights into the creative process and the profound lessons learned through my work. My journey has been one of collaboration, learning, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Whether through film, literature, or mentorship, my mission remains the same: to tell stories that touch hearts, challenge minds, and uplift souls.
