"I took care not to dispute anything he said, for there’s no arguing with an Enthusiast" Voltaire Far be it from me to argue with a Philosopher, Frenchman and critic of all pomposity, save his own, but Candidly he's plain wrong to put us Enthusiasts down! As an eclectic in all aspects of my life and sometime prolific inventor, with 168 granted patents and applications within 34 (and counting!) eclectic patents families (containing 39 inventions so far!), on everything from how to have prize products in Islamic countries and how to save power in wind farms to how to encrypt signals using Einstein’s theory of special relativity or even to how to get a tailor to measure you for a suit a continent away only using a mobile phone, I passionately believe enthusiasm to be the heart of all life. To deliver, making these ideas work and be valuable, enthusiasm is a must have starting point. After all, without enthusiasm we humans would not have bothered reinventing the wheel and included wire spokes, for it’s the Enthusiast who sees a better way of doing things. Indeed without enthusiasm we would not even have the wheel in the first place, for it’s the Enthusiast who sees a problem and refuses to believe that’s where it stops, even when everyone else can’t see it or can’t sell it, because they don’t get it. Yes we Enthusiasts will get it wrong sometimes, even most of the time, but which would you rather be, the caveman shivering in the cave who is always right or the enthusiastic idiot out trying to build a wheel? To say the above out of a sense of superiority is to be an arrogant and self-indulgent fool. To say the above out of a belief that all life and the problems it throws up, should be met with enthusiasm, passion and the willingness to be thought a fool in order to do what you believe is right, is to understand that all life is a risk, whether you try to live shivering in the cave or are thought to be an idiot for leaving the cave and trying to build a wheel.
