The Karnataka State Adult Education Council established State Resource Center at Mysore in 1979. The Karnataka State Adult Education Council is the pioneer in Adult Education movement in India. The National Literacy Mission, under the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Elementary Education & Literacy, and Govt. of India came forward to extend financial support to Karnataka State Adult Education Council, Mysore to establish State Resource Center at Mysore and now administered by the Directorate of Mass Education, Govt. of Karnataka. In order to provide academic and technical resource support to all the agencies in the Field of Adult Education in Karnataka. This is mainly done by organizing training programmes, material preparation, publishing of relevant material, extension activities, innovative projects, research studies and evaluation.
