Howard University: Howard Forward Master Plan Rachel conducted field work to document the conditions of the National Historic Landmark, Frederick Douglass Memorial Hall, as well as presented design concepts and FF&E options to the stakeholders. During the University’s winter break in 2018, high pressure steam filled the building after a steam line ruptured and two boilers failed resulting in the relocation of hundreds of classrooms and office across the campus. The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center consists of two schools, the Kendall Elementary Demonstration School and the Model secondary School for the Deaf. These schools total in approximately 461,700 square feet of learning spaces dedicated to deaf and hard of hearing students. The buildings require renovations and repairs to meet modern academic standards.
