Hi! I'm Rachel. I'm a user experience designer, artist, and social entrepreneur. I use design and research to help people thrive, and bring expertise in UX, service design, research, and strategy across multi-workstream, complex enterprise environments for 0-to-1 products and existing products in Fortune 500 companies, government, NGOs, and startups. I specialize in turning legacy complexity into reliable, scalable platforms that people actually want to use, and which strengthen healthcare and civic systems. My strengths include identifying value, designing ethical products, and scaling out design by managing risk to build, test, measure, and evaluate and use experience as a systems thinker with an ethics background to my work in AI.WHAT I DO:- Leadership: Aligning work to goals and identifying value, hiring and mentoring, scaling out design by managing risk, creating thought leadership, business development, writing and teaching, and advocating for inclusive design- Research: Using multiple methods to understand people and systems and synthesize into insights and actionable recommendations- Strategy: Identifying features by prioritizing pains and opportunities into high-value features to ensure customer acquisition and retention, and translating feedback into continual product improvement- Design: Creating, collaborating, and presenting UI design, advocating for inclusive design, and ensuring design translates into impact. Civic Hall is a community space that builds civic tech for public good via our R&D non-profit, Civic Hall Labs. - Product management: Led research and product management and supervised development team for ReferNYC Open Data exchange, resulting in product acquisition by the City of New York as part of their 'Social Service Location Data Project' (https://www1.nyc.gov/site/opportunity/portfolio/social-service-location.page) - Research and community design: Achieved buy-in from community agencies by co-facilitating community-centered design sessions and conducting interviews, resulting in signed contracts - Fundraising: Wrote and received $25,000 grant - Leadership: Created and taught curriculum on user research and prototyping for Civic Xcel civic incubator, and spoke on equity-centered community design in civic tech, resulting in greater brand recognition

This program within the School of Design Strategies at Parsons is a two year Master's degree focused on 'collaborative design-led research and a systems-oriented approach to social innovation and service design'.
