Manage a group within Environment Canada's Environmental Policy and Operations Division. The diverse group is made up of: expert support on water and air quality for environmental assessment and regulatory reviews, compliance promotion of regulatory tools, enviornmental effects monitoring and contaminated sites.

* Provided air expertise to the Oil Sands Division. * Reviewed, advised and supported policy development and implementation of provincial regulations for the oil sands and refineries. * Coordinated the writing of Policy 1-A, an operational policy document for oil sands operators. * Managed the oil sands emissions inventory contract. * Advised on emissions and modelling for cumulative effects management. * Participated on the Cumulative Environmental Management Association’s NOx SOx Management Working Group. * Attended the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society’s Negotiation Theory and Skills 1 Course.

* Managed an Air Quality Science Unit group with 7 staff members and an operations budget of over $200,000. * Engaged in all budgeting, procurement activities, staffing actions and labour relation issues. * Led and coordinated work plans on air quality monitoring, modelling and analysis. * Built and maintained partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders and clients through participation on various multi-stakeholder committees, such as Clean Air Strategic Alliance, Alberta Environment led Capital Region Steering Committee and Wood Buffalo Environmental Airshed. * Provided regional advice and expertise to Science and Technology (S&T) Branch on oil sands issues and led the oil sands air quality monitoring on behalf of MSC.

* Provided regional expertise on air quality science. * Analyzed and reported on source-to-receptor relationships for VOCs and mercury. * Coordinated research and the writing for peer reviewed publications.

* Provided air expertise to regional risk management activities. * Provided technical knowledge on air quality and greenhouse gases for several environmental assessment reviews. * Delivered regional expertise to headquarters in support of federal policy development. * Appeared at panel hearings as an air expert on behalf of Environment Canada. * Participated as a member of the Clean Air Strategic Alliance’s PM and Ozone Implementation Team. * Led regional scientific analysis. * Chaired the 4th National Air Quality Workshop, AQ2006. * Provided regional support to the Air Quality Modeling Applications Division at the Canadian Meteorological Centre. * Instructed Environment Canada’s meteorologists on air quality issues.
