Chemical Biology graduate student in the laboratory of Paul J. Hergenrother Developed and evaluated dual small-molecule mediated activation of procaspase-3 as an anti-cancer strategy and platform to study apoptosis. Designed rational combinations of small-molecules and standard-of-care chemotherapeutics for enhanced efficacy in cell culture and in vivo. Evaluated novel lead therapeutic compounds for toxicity and efficacy in murine models. Collaborated with organic chemists, chemical biologists, biochemists, cell biologists, and microbiologists. Mentor to two undergraduate/high school research students.

Instructed students on proper laboratory technique, assisted during laboratory exercises, provided feedback on written assignments and performed maintenance on equipment.

Independent undergraduate research in the laboratory of Tia-Lynn Ashman. Investigated the interactions between mycorrhizal fungi and Fragaria virginiana and the effect on mating system evolution. Part of an international team investigating pollen limitation in relation to endemism. Used solid phase microphase extraction techniques to study floral scent compositions in relation to rudimentary sex chromosomes.
