Scientist I - Assay Technology, Lead Discovery @ Revolution Medicines

About

As a Scientist I at Revolution Medicines, I apply my expertise in biochemical and biophysical assays to support the discovery of new oncology therapeutics. I design and execute screening methods to identify and optimize compound hits, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of medicinal chemists, compound managers, biologists, structural biologists, and computational scientists. Prior to joining Revolution Medicines, I was a PhD graduate student at the University of Michigan, where I investigated the biochemical, biophysical, electrophysiological, and structural properties of bacterial small multidrug resistance (SMR) membrane proteins. I have a strong background in chemical biology, having earned my PhD from the University of Michigan and my MS and BS from San Jose State University. I am passionate about advancing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying drug resistance and developing innovative solutions to combat this growing public health challenge.

Independently developed and executed a research plan to investigate the biochemical, biophysical electrophysiological, and structural properties with xenobiotic substrates of bacterial small multidrug resistance (SMR) membrane proteins found in wastewater Characterized proteins using recombinant expression and purification, reconstitution into liposomes, solid-supported membrane electrophysiology, Michaelis-Menten kinetics, ITC, tryptophan binding assay, X-ray crystallography providing the first evidence into bacterial co-option of existing metabolic transporters to deal with novel xenobiotics Quantified bacterial fitness by competing labeled knockout and non-knockout strains with potential toxic metabolic substrates by analyzing through growth, resistance, biofilm, and flow cytometry assays Performed statistical data analysis and publication-quality visualization using GraphPad and Adobe Illustrator Mentored undergraduates and manage scheduling, technical training, note-keeping and project development Disseminate research at lab meetings, conferences, and peer-reviewed journals Completed multiple projects ahead of deadlines and regularly disseminated results in yearly committee meeting and monthly lab meetings
