Quentin McCabe

I joined Pumping Equipment Victoria as a Sales Engineer in 1974 and acquired the Company in 1978. At the time it was a Victorian business only. With a vision to expand the Company, I changed the name to Pump Engineers (Australia) Pty. Ltd. to more closely reflect the identity of our business, the services we offer and our expansion ambitions. In the late 1970s, I established a distributorship with Grundfos Pumps that has grown to be an integral part of the Pump Engineers product portfolio.That relationship continuous strongly today and makes up a significant part of our business. Jim Fotiniotis became a Director in 1987, followed by David Park in 2009. Over the years we have expanded our operations by establishing branches in Brisbane and Sydney. In 2011 I re-located to Queensland and I now work from a home base with weekly visits to our Brisbane office. My primary role in the business now is more back-of-house, mainly focused on finance and business strategies, though old habits die hard, so am still involved in some sales activities, particularly with long-term clients. Jim and David cover the more creative roles of Sales, Service, new Business Development and day-to-day operations. Pump Engineers has had a strength in the industry which has held it in good stead over the 40 years I have been at the helm. We have seen many small (and large) pump companies come and go, but our reputation for providing customer service and sales support has ensured Pump Engineers' place as the 'biggest small pump company in Australia'.
