Managed and performed qPCR and gene expression analysis for the therapeutic development, project initiatives and customer services. Optimized PCR sample treatment and reactions to obtain qualified consistent results. Provided training and coaching on methods and processes. Produced and optimized protocols for off-the-shelf neural cell products using human pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). Developed and executed protocols for therapeutic R&D and set up systematic quantification methods to standardize therapeutic cell products.

Supervised technical staff with reprogramming and genome editing on single nucleotide replacement with hiPSCs. Optimized protocols to reach nearly 100% efficiency. Developed, Interpreted and communicated routine work for protocol modifications and data analysis. Optimized the protocol for differentiation of cardiovascular progenitor cells from hiPSC, with customer milestones and performance standards.

Scientific research and stem cell core efforts as outlined below: Scientific Research Interacted with lab staff and set up the high level of aseptic technology in the lab and trained staff. Established tests and regulations required for the contamination-free cell culture environment. Oversaw the test results and managed the improvement for each contamination. Finally, the lab contamination has been minimized nearly to zero. Designed and executed the project for modeling and understanding molecular mechanisms of brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease through direct reprogramming and direct neuronal differentiation. Designed and executed the research for brain tumor diagnosis and gene/drug therapies. Generated and managed the IACUC protocols. Oversaw and reported lab animal work. Stem Cell Core Work Key participant in a pre-clinical trial of stem cell-based therapy, generated standard operating procedures and conducted experiments at the GLP lab. Managed and executed Core services, such as hiPSC derivation and neuronal differentiation. Core grant participation and management, including optimizing CAR-T immunotherapies and stem cell aging. Oversaw Core management for initiation, generated standard operating procedures, provided budget estimates for Core services and grants, generated reports, and participated in collaborative sessions and seminars.

Discovered a highly efficient motor neuron differentiation method from hiPSCs and investigated transcriptome profiling.

Developed protocols for humanized xenograft models and initiated gene and drug therapies for brain tumors in the lab. Managed and trained peers on lab animal work and protocols. Discovered the effect of TLX –Wnt7a signaling on adult neurogenesis and brain cognitive function. Supervised technical staff for brain surgery, animal care, and behavioral tests.

Performed protein purification and characterization of enzymes in urea cycle metabolism diseases.

PI, generated high-astaxanthin-producing strains of Phaffia rhodozyma. Co-PI, developed an effective animal medicine: 8301polysaccharides, which has been awarded a license in China to protect fowl cholera, Marek's disease and Eimeria tenella in chickens.
