I'm carrying out the University of Helsinki’s role of service provider to the community.I promote the skills, welfare and success of our clients, sustainable development, and the interaction between academia and society. I try to satisfy the training and development needs of our clients by providing continuing education, empirical research and other development services which are grounded in academic research. I work in close cooperation with faculties and departments as well as with other adult education units.

a study programme for teachers who aim to work as guidance counsellors in universities of applied sciences or at vocational institutions/colleges -- with Master’s degree, this programme qualifies you for guidance counsellor’s positions in comprehensive and upper secondary school as well. Duration of studies is 18 months. Guidance and counselling in vocational education gives holistic support for students at different stages of study. The aim is to increase the wellbeing of students, prevent drop-out, enhance employment and promote enrollment to further education. Program covers extensively the latest theoretical and methodological areas in guidance and counselling, -- it develops the teacher’s individual counselling skills and understanding of the relevance of guidance at different periods of life. Students also engage in discussion about professional ethics in counselling and learn how to organize and coordinate guidance together with teachers and other staff in their organizations."

in the School of Vocational Teacher Education: "The vocational teacher education programme is meant for teachers and teacher applicants who plan to work at universities of applied sciences or at vocational institutions/colleges. The programme comprises 60 credit points. It includes 25 credit points of basic studies in pedagogy which can be replaced by previous academic studies on education. The teacher education programme combines a strong theoretical foundation with an investigative and developmental approach to teaching and the student-teacher experience. It has a special emphasis on the integration of theory and practice, as well as on encouraging students to participate developmental efforts in their own institutions. It fosters an investigative and development oriented approach to teaching."
