The Marine / Operations Manager reports directly to the Managing Director providing him with the necessary information regarding his area of responsibilities on both a formal and an informal basis. Has direct access to senior management and has the authority to implement suitable controls with regard to nautical standards. This job by its very nature is task orientated. The Marine / Operations Manager is prime mover in ensuring that proper consideration is given to the motivation of his staff ashore and afloat. Because of the extended lines of communication between ship and shore special attention has to be paid to this aspect of his job.

- Monitor the performance of each managed vessel ensuring that each managed vessel in the designated Fleet in order to ensure that it is operated efficiently and in accordance to the flag and statutory requirements as well as company’s guidelines. Also, stays alert on critical operation deficiencies (if any) and ensures implementation of company’s Safety Management System. - Appointment of ship agents and other ship services required in connection with the employment of the managed vessel in the designated Fleet. Also, follows up safe delivery of goods and services onboard the ships in co-ordination with the Purchasing Department and the rest of the Fleet personnel. - Issues voyage instructions and ship’s cargo tanks preparation instructions, interfaces with agents and port authorities, utilizes port time effectively by coordinating with all internal and external parties and ensures that customer’s requirements and expectations are understood and met enhancing overall relations through daily contacts. - Monitors the actual day-to-day performance and financial expenditure of vessels in the managed Fleet, against the agreed performance parameters and the forecasted budgets. - Co-operates with the Insurance & Claims Dept. by collecting documents/evidences and supporting the raised claims. It cooperates with the Crew Dept., compiles performance appraisals of the deck staff up to the rank of the Master and is responsible for monitoring vessel’s navigation and cargo handling / operation in a safe and cost effective way always in accordance with company’s "SMS" , “ISO” , “ISPS” and International requirements

Also, follows up safe delivery of goods and services onboard the ships in co-ordination with the Purchasing Department and the rest of the Fleet personnel. • Assists the Chartering Department (cargo quantity / stowage calculations) in describing vessel’s particular characteristics.
