Prof. Dr. Sathish Babu Ratakonda

I started my professional journey as a Clinical Technologist, working closely with healthcare systems and understanding how clinical environments actually function on the ground. Very early on, I became fascinated with the intersection of healthcare and technology. That curiosity turned into passion, and I grew into a Healthcare IT enthusiast at a time when digital health was still finding its footing in India. One of the milestones I am proud of is conducting the first Connectathon in India through IAMI. It was not just an event, it was an effort to bring interoperability, standards, and collaboration into serious discussion within the healthcare ecosystem. That experience shaped the way I think about systems and innovation. From there, I moved into Healthcare IT entrepreneurship, building and engaging with solutions that aimed to make healthcare delivery more structured and technology driven. Along the way, I chose to formally enter the legal profession and qualified as an Advocate. My legal work focuses on International Law, Immigration, and Intellectual Property Rights. Law gave me a different lens to look at global systems, compliance, cross border movement, and institutional frameworks. Today, I serve as the President and Vice Chancellor of Bloomington University. Leading a university is not just an administrative role for me. It is about institution building, academic governance, international positioning, and creating a credible global academic ecosystem. My journey from clinical practice to technology, entrepreneurship, law, and now higher education has given me a multidisciplinary foundation that I bring into leadership every day. I believe in building structured systems, creating long term value, and connecting ideas across disciplines. I am always open to meaningful conversations around education, healthcare innovation, law, and global collaboration.
