During my industrial placement at Fence and Frame Zimbabwe, I took on multifaceted responsibilities in production planning, control, and maintenance scheduling. My role involved coordinating daily production activities, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring seamless workflow between departments. I developed and maintained maintenance plans, helping to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. A key achievement was designing and implementing a custom Excel-based system that served as a mini-MRP (Material Requirements Planning) tool. This system enabled real-time order tracking, accurate stock monitoring, and automated Bill of Materials (BOM) calculations—significantly improving data accuracy and operational efficiency across the production process. Key Contributions: Developed an integrated Excel solution for order tracking, inventory management, and BOM calculations. Streamlined production scheduling and resource planning, reducing bottlenecks and improving on-time delivery. Enhanced maintenance planning processes, contributing to increased equipment uptime and reliability. Facilitated effective communication between production, procurement, and maintenance teams.
