Preston Mesarvey

I’m a Technical Director in the Data Services practice at Improving, with more than 20 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and modernizing data platforms across industries including banking, insurance, healthcare, finance, education, agriculture, entertainment, government, and real estate. Over the course of my career, I’ve built a reputation as a consultant who can bridge strategy and execution, translating complex business requirements into scalable, governed, and well-architected data solutions. Much of my work focuses on helping organizations establish a durable and pragmatic data strategy, one that aligns people, processes, and business goals with the capabilities of the modern data landscape. I’m deeply committed to building strong data cultures, empowering teams to think beyond tools and pipelines, and enabling organizations to become truly insight driven. A critical part of this involves partnering with business and technical leaders to strengthen data teams and data governance, promote data literacy, improve quality and trust in information assets, and implement frameworks that support responsible and sustainable growth. I’m also highly active in the Atlanta data and AI technical communities, regularly speaking at conferences, user groups, and professional events on topics such as data leadership, data modernization, data governance, analytics practices, and the evolving role of data in organizations. I believe strongly in giving back through education, mentorship, community building, and sharing lessons learned from real-world delivery. At my core, I’m passionate about helping organizations and teams unlock meaningful value from their data by building clarity, confidence, and momentum in how it is used.
