Prachi Joshi (PhD)

Doing science is being open to possibilities and then systematically evaluating these possibilities. I believe scientific research prepares you for work settings and challenges beyond science at personal and professional levels. Setting goals, achieving them, and then asking what the next best thing is, has got me all the way from teaching biology at the school level to mentoring research projects during my Ph.D. I like to work as a team and guide subordinates to reach their goals. I have also worked in a corporate setup (PierianDx Pvt Ltd) for enabling personalized medicine, as well as contributed to projects in bioincubation and organizing workshops on advanced techniques at the research consultancy Manaar Techsol LLP. (now run as IABRD). Ph.D. further honed my skills in techniques like LC-MS, Confocal imaging and image analysis, RT-PCR, Flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, and western blotting. The Ph.D. years have also helped me excel in giving scientific presentations, project designing, and execution. I look forward to the learnings that every situation provides and I’m sure of being persistent as I aspire to aim high in life. Going ahead, I want to take up work that is intellectually demanding, outcome driven, and allows me the freedom to learn, think, act and grow.
